Amelia medical bracelet

Amelia wears medical bracelet. The medical bracelet provide information and a contact number where Paramedics or medical professional can call to obtain information about Amelia's heart condition and her medical history in an emergency situation so that they can treat her with proper care.

Amelia understands that wearing the medical bracelet is for her own safety. She wears it to swim, cycle, run, play basketball and play dodge ball.

If you are wondering whether your heart child should wear medical bracelet, here is Amelia's experiences of wearing medical bracelet:

Amelia is the only pupil wears medical bracelet at her school. Her school friends and pupils asked her why she has to wear a bracelet and what is wrong with her. These pupils are just curious. She gets tired of explaining to the extend she hide her medical bracelet inside her jumper sleeve because she feels like a sick child.

Amelia told her parent during a random conversation. Her parent explained to Amelia that her "mended" heart has helped her to achieve great things like completing triathlon races to help babies born with the similar heart problems. She shall protect her "mended" heart so that she can continue to achieve great things and that medical bracelet will help medical professionals save her heart in case of emergency. She shall focus on her achievements and be proud that she is different to other children in that way. Her parent communicated with the school office to find solution to help Amelia get through her transition period, the school was very helpful and offer to provide answers to curious pupils on behalf of Amelia if she was tired of explaining.

The benefit of Amelia wearing a medical bracelet gives peace of mind to her parent in some way as Amelia spends considerable amount of times at school, attending extra curriculum activities and sometime she is away from home.

Amelia feels good to be different now.
