How we do it

We will climb the mount Kinabalu in 2 days to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Charity. We are the first group of people undertaking this adventure in aid of GOSH.

The trip schedule is detailed below. The timing used in the schedule below is according to Malaysia timing. Bear in mind, Malaysia is 8 hours ahead of London, United Kingdom.

DAY 1 (1 December 2011)

0730 - Depart from Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah and start our journey to Kinabalu Park. It will take about 1 to 1.5 hours through scenic countryside roads. The route is also good for cyclists who keen to challenge their ability to climb and endurance.

0900 - Arrive at Kinabalu Park Head Quarters. We will register our names (passport required) at the head quarters.

0930 – Start our climb journey to Timpohon Gate located at 1,866.4 metres above sea level. Then continue for 4-6 hours to get to Laban Rata at the height of 3272.7 metres above sea level. We will get to enjoy the panoramic view of the Sabah rainforest.

1530 - Reach at Laban Rata and time to get some rest at the dormitory.

1900 Dinner and go to bed early.

DAY 2 (2 December 2011)

0230 – The climb journey start in the dark through to morning. Time to get our flash light and camera out.

0300 - the ultimate and final attempt to conquer the summits of Hugh Low’s Peak at 4,095.2 metres above sea level.

0545 - Witness the spectacular sunrise and it will be the most unforgettable experience to take home and share with Great Ormond Street Hospital and you all.

0700 - Descend to Laban Rata for breakfast.

1000 - Check out and proceed to Timpohon Gate. Lunch at Liwagu restaurant before going back to Kota Kinabalu.

Day 3 & Day 4 (3 & 4 December 2011)

Whole day - Go shopping in style - limping all the way ! Muscle will be hurting.
