Medical History since I was born.
06 Dec'05 I was born at Royal Free Hospital at 5.17pm and my weight was 7lb13oz. |
17 Jan'06 Found to have a cardiac murmur at the 6 weeks check up. |
31 Jan'06 Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) confirmed I would need surgery to repair my heart defect (named Tetralogy of Fallot). |
23 May'06 Had an open heart surgery. The surgery took about 12 hours due to some complications. I was taken care of in Cardiac Intensive Care Ward for 9 days then was transferred to Ladybird ward for 3 days and subsequently discharged from hospital. |
20 Jul'06 Post surgery review confirmed that there was a 2-3/6 ejection systolic murmur which was heard loudest over the left sternal edge. |
17 Nov'06 There is still a moderate degree of the leftover narrowing of the outflow of the right ventricle present, both underneath the pulmonary valve by muscle and at the level of the pulmonary valve itself. Option to perform a Cardiac Catheter with a view to stretch the narrowing with a balloon. |
| 12 Feb'07 Echocardiography showed moderately severe right ventricular outflow obstruction. The maximum velocity is 3.9m/sec. |
05 Mar'07 Obstruction developing underneath the aortic valve was related to the valve itself, but it looks as if there are muscle bundles underneath the valve, which would make it unlikely that balloon dilatation will be helpful. |
14 May'07 Clinical examination has not changed. My echo shows a gradient of 3.9 through my right ventricular outflow tract. The Consultant Peadiatric Cardiologist happy to wait for longer. |
10 Sep'07 Clinical assessment today suggests that I continue to have right ventricular outflow tract obstruction and remains clinically well. The Cardiologist discussed my case in surgical meeting in March 2007 and felt that the right ventricular outflow obstruction was due to muscle bundles underneath the valve rather than the obstruction at the valve itself. This will require further surgery to alleviate the right ventricular outflow obstruction. As I am currently over 11Kg, the surgeons reckoned that there probably remains little gain in delaying the planned surgery further. They think it would be sensible to schedule surgery sometime in the New Year. |
| 27 Nov'07 Follow up appointment with Whittington Hospital. |
Future medical needs:
Both GOSH and Whitting Hospital continue to monitor my heart development.
Symptoms to look out for are the frequency of me getting out of breath and tired easily etc.
