Welcome to Amelia Lee Website!

When I was still in my mummy's belly, I had been scanned at 13 weeks, 20 weeks and 34 weeks because of concerns that I was macrosomic secondary to my mummy's diabetes but there was no suggestion at these antenatal scanning that there was any problem. I was born on 6 December 2005 at Royal Free Hospital, London at 5.17pm and my weight was 7lbs13oz.

My mummy took me to Highgate Group Pratice for 6 weeks check-up on 23 January 2006. The doctor found I have a loud systolic murmur and referred me to Whittington Hospital Peadiatrics Team for further examination on the next day.

The Consultant Peadiatrician told my parents that I have a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot which need surgery to repair my heart. The news has broken my parents hearts. They hugged me so tight and I wish I could tell them I am a strong baby and please do not be sad. This feeling is unexplainable and difficult to express.

I was later referred to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH). On 27 January 2007, the Cardiologist at GOSH explained to my parents in details of my heart conditions and symptoms to look out for.

The cardiologist suggested to keep an eye on my weight gain. I should gain weight, the bigger my body the better for the surgery.

I started to have blue spells when I was 4 months old (around March 2006) The frequency of me losing consciousness after feed was getting more often. As my condition got more severe it got more and more difficult to keep food and liquid down after a feed and on many occassions I would throw up and faint and would sleep for a little while to recover. This has caused concerns to my parents and they contacted GOSH Cardiac Liaison Nurse for advice.

Great Ormond Street Hospital department of cardiology team suggested to schedule the operation sooner. On 23 May 2006, I have had my operation.
